Hp pavilion dv2000 notebook will not boot up

  • I have the HP pavilion dv2000 too. I encountered the same problem. I did everything i though possible (reseated the battery, reseated the ram) and every time i hit the power button, i would get all the blue lights on but no screen. And it is non responsive. Fed up i held the power key down for no less than 2 minutes and ta-da the computer responds by turning off. After i pressed the power button again, it started normally.
  • Remove the memory modules and resat them. If this doesn't work, try repeating the hard drive. If those actions don't do it, get back to me for some more ideas.
  • HDD could have gone bad but let's not jump to that conclusion just yet. Try to remove the HDD and resat it. (You stated that you had done that once, but let's do it again, just to make sure) These laptops get moved around a lot and sometimes connectivity to a device gets fouled up. Often, simply repeating the failing device a couple of times will lead to resolution of the issue.
  • I think it is either wrong hardware design or poor soldering of BGA chips.
    The CPU is getting only 0.7V. It is rated 1.1V, but these laptops to save battery may be designed to work with variable CPU voltage.
    Using variable CPU power is very critical and may cause the computer to not start at all. I even replaced CPU and it did not help.
    Only some heating BGA chips temporary restored boot, that's why I think maybe bad soldering. Not sure about this though, because the same time I have removed both memory modules, and tried to boot without them. Maybe this resets something.
    Low voltage design is very critical, requires perfect power supply, and is prone to noises.
  • I to have a dv2000 exact model DV2104eu first of all it was my wireless card that stooped working then it would freeze and now its dead. But after having a look around there is a big problem with all that motherboards on the dv2000 series i rung HP and they are picking it up Monday for free repair they have extended the warranty by an extra 2 years because of this problem so any 1 with it just ring HP and tell them.
