Problem

My auto focus just stopped working. I was taking pictures right along and when I stopped to give the camera a break I noticed that the focus lights didnt turn on. Then it would not do anything except go in and out and not focus or let it take the shot..I have been able to manual focus and shoot with it but my vison is less then fair and I am unable to shoot a clear picture this was. Of course Im away from home and its Christmas and I was really looking forward to getting good shots of the lights and my grandkids..Any quick fixes? Thank You Kate

Solution

• Almost free solution – I put a dab of "UHU tac" removable adhesive putty bind the secondary mirror, to hold it up perminantely. I have to focus manually, but it has held for over a year.
• I had the same problem described above happen to me today. I took the lens off and moved the mirror up and down a few times manually. I put the lens back on and the camera is now working normally.
  
  I suspect this is only a temporary solution, so I'll probably start socking away some money to either get it repaired for real, or for a new body, but I figured it might work for some others.
• All of us need to ban together and fight canon... If I had known that this professional camera would need to be replaced faster than my point and shoots, I would have reconsidered the $700 i spent on it just THREE years ago. It's absolutely ridiculous that Canon will not fix this problem. The guy in Customer Service said "well what can you expect with a lower end camera?". I don't consider the Rebel to be a lower end camera and 3 years is certainly a short life.
• The pin that holds the AF sub-mirror in place is made of plastic. After it breaks part of the shot will be dark. Turning the camera upside down could possible correct the problem until repaired. The solution is to replace the pin with a metal pin. Not easily done by a novice.

Problem

Trying to transfer pics from camera to computer. Do I use the same connector that I use to charge the camera via the computer? Message that i get when i try to do this is, "a connected device can not be found"

• YUP THE SAME CABLE.
  "A CONNECTED DEVICE CANNOT BE FOUND MEAN YOU HAVE TO INSTALL DRIVER/SOFTWARE.
  YOU MUST HAVE A CD/DVD PROVIDED AFTER BUY THE CAMERA. IF YOU DON'T HAVE THAT IDENTIFIED YOUR CAMERA BRAND AND SERIES, AFTER THAT TYPE THE MODEL AND SERIES PLUS "DRIVER" AFTER THE MODEL AND SERIES. IF YOU DONT HAVE THE CD AND DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIND THE SOFTWARE I MENTION PLZ TELL ME YOUR MODEL, EXE CANON 9000
• If your connecting the camera via the usb cable you will need the drivers for the camera to be recognised by the pc. Do you have the disk that came with it? If not, try here and download the easy share software.

Solution

• I just received this camera and was wondering something. You know the button you click too view the pictures after you take the pictures? I'm not talking about the power button. I am talking about the button with the arrow like inside a square. I am wondering if any of you have noticed this. I clicked it a second time and it turns on the camera. I thought by clicking it a second time, it would allow the screen too go blank, meaning I am done previewing the pictures. Instead, as I said, it turns on the camera when you click it a second time. I am wondering if this happens too anyone else?
  
  In addition, I noticed if I have the camera on preview picture mode, if I click the scn button, it turns on the camera fully, meaning the lens will come out and the camera will turn on as if I did it normally when pressing the regular power on button. Does this happen too anyone else?
• Hi all, I dropped my i832 and called polaroid and they now have an out of warranty replacment program and we're very helpful when my camera broke in June. Same problem with the lens not going back in and all the beeping. For $75 they sent me a refurb. camera with a limited warranty, but at least now I have a camera back. Whole transaction from talking with customer swervice to getting "new" camera was about 10 days. Hope it helps?
• myne wont let me get to the 21 modes for picture setting sept everything else is fine well i dont know how to get to it is the problem HELP when myne wont turn on i eather swithch the batteries or hold the button for 20 seconds then lets go try it!!!
• I called Polaroid and they took down my information, but I too do not have the receipt (it was a gift). It dawned on me that they could probably see that it was still within the 1-year warranty if they looked up the serial number. However, they said while true, they still needed proof of purchase/receipt with the store name, date, and line item of the camera. I told them I was not the only one with this issue. Maybe if others call and document their complaints they will issue a recall or else a solution for those of us who don't have the receipt. Polaroid's number is: 1-877-388-3779 (M-F 10a-7p Eastern)

Problem

Nikon D80 display panel F--
Randomly my camera will not let me take a picture and in the display window flashes F--
It is really becoming a problem and I am quickly learning to hate my camera.

Solution

The lens ought to be fully functional in every mode. But if you are in a pinch then Manual it is 'til you can get it sorted or serviced if need be...in which case you'll need to swithch the AF Mode lever (under lens release button )from 'AF' to 'M'. Have you cleaned the lens' electrical contacts? Examine but probably little need to clean the camera's electric contacts considering its' young age. Do you have access to another AF body on which you can test the lens and another AF lens to test the D80?
Please keep in mind that if the aperture is not set (locked) at its minimum, the error is a flashing fEE. When the body cannot communicate with the CPU in the lens, the error is F--, which means either the lens has no CPU or a bad electronic contact.
